August 23, 2022—CIP Minister Icyang‧Parod visited Fu Jen Catholic University today to announce that improvement measures for the CIP’s Grants for Indigenous Students in Colleges and Universities will be promoted in the upcoming 2022 academic year.

Minister Icyang stated that the first improvement measure is based on the consideration that funding hasn’t been adjusted since 2008 despite the surging cost of living and severe inflation. To help indigenous students in colleges and universities meet their financial needs for schooling, the CIP will increase scholarships from NT$22,000 to NT$32,000, general bursaries and bursaries for lower-middle-income households from NT$17,000 to $20,000, and bursaries for low-income households from NT$27,000 to $30,000.

The second improvement measure will be holding events to give public recognition to outstanding students. The CIP will present certificates in a public ceremony to the top student at each selected school with over 100 indigenous students, based on student rankings of the previous semester converted into percentages.

The CIP hopes that these improvement measures will encourage and inspire indigenous students to study diligently, enhance their academic performance, and build on their personal competitive advantages, and will effectively reduce their financial burden so that they may successfully complete their studies.
