Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur visited Sandimen Township, Pingtung County, today (September 13) to assess recovery and reconstruction efforts following the severe damage caused by Typhoon Danas and the torrential rainfall of July 28. The minister reviewed local conditions and progress of rehabilitation work, expressing hope that the central and local governments will continue to collaborate closely to expedite reconstruction and help affected communities recover as soon as possible.

Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur first attended a briefing at the Sandimen Township Office on the disaster situation and ongoing restoration projects before conducting on-site inspections in the Tukuvulj and Paridrayan communities. He examined areas heavily affected by landslides and roadbed collapses that have disrupted transportation links. Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur noted that the back-to-back disasters caused extensive damage to roads and homes in the area and that the CIP will utilize funds allocated under the Special Act for Post-Disaster Recovery and Reconstruction Following Typhoon Danas and the Torrential Rainfall of July 28 to support local governments in accelerating infrastructure restoration and community rebuilding, ensuring that reconstruction proceeds safely, efficiently, and effectively through central-local cooperation.

The minister emphasized that the recovery and reconstruction of indigenous villages remain the CIP's top priority. He also called on the Pingtung County Government and Sandimen Township Office teams to speed up their implementation efforts, while offering full support to help indigenous residents return to normal life as quickly as possible.
