On April 9, 2011, the Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) held the 3rd graduation ceremony of the Indigenous Language Professionals Training Workshop. Minister Icyang Parod chaired personally, and the participating students interpret simultaneously on-site as an acceptance test of the training course.

Minister Icyang Parod said that CIP will take the lead in demonstrating the use of indigenous languages at events and even official businesses where interpreters will provide instant translation, so that indigenous language is no longer a barrier to communication. Due to the huge spike in demand for indigenous language interpreting talents, a special interpretation training course has been set up this year to include simultaneous/consecutive interpretation, sight translation, indigenous language, and cultural translation, etc. With theoretical and practical trainings, one improves skills gradually and becomes a professional indigenous language interpreter.

Minister Icyang Parod emphasized that CIP is committed to cultivating talents for the development of indigenous languages, and comprehensively promoting the creation of a friendly environment for indigenous languages. Hopefully through this workshop, indigenous languages will become the language used in daily life, and these interpreters can fully play the role as communication bridge and continue the vitality of indigenous languages.
