Tribal Table Festival 2019-- Ka^so’ay Best Feast Time People Gathered for a Picnic to Enjoy the Delicate Cuisines of Indigenous Peoples

The first Tribal Table Festival 2019-- Ka^so’ay Best Feast Time was held by the Council of Indigenous Peoples today (13th) at Niupuzai Prairie, Chukou Village, Chiayi County (Silk Road of Love 18, Alishan). The Council launched a limited edition of meal vouchers worth NT$ 299, attracting a large number of people to taste the “indigenous” food. Tibusungu é vayayana, the Deputy Director of the Council was present to enjoy the delicacies together with the people.

Deputy Director stated that the Council had organized series of events themed at tribal table festival to activate the industrial development from different levels. The “Indigenous Cuisine Talent Contest” and “Indigenous Taste Exploration Workshop” held in the end of August enabled the indigenous chefs and students equipped with professional knowledge of catering to deeply probe into the food materials of indigenous villages and share them in way of live streaming, so that people could integrate the food materials of Indigenous Peoples into their daily cuisines; Furthermore, the highlight today, “Ka^so’ay Best Feast Time”, was a product of collaboration among the Council, Bureau of Tourism, Administration Office of Alishan National Scenic Area, Forest Management Office of Chiayi County, Alishan Forestry Railway and Cultural Assets Management Office, Chiayi County Government, Alishan Village Office and Interagency and Authorities of Fanlu Village Office. “Ka^so’ay Best Feast Time” was performed in form of picnic coupled with township market of indigenous village, singing and dance performance of Indigenous Peoples, tribal music karaoke and lawn theater, etc. Moreover, it was also combined with food materials, gourmets, traditional cultures and tribal travelling of Indigenous Peoples to create a feast of Indigenous Peoples activity different from the past.

Nine tribes of Alishan included Zhulu Tribe, Shanmei Tribe, Xinmei Tribe, Chashan Tribe, Leye Tribe, Laiji Tribe, Lijia Tribe, Tefuye Tribe and Dabang Tribe also attended for the great event. In addition to promoting the local featured agricultural products, such as vegetarian gelatin, coffee and tea, the event also demonstrated the characteristic tours. Besides, the date of the event fell on the day for “Tsou Ceremony of Alishan Tribe” co-organized by the Administration Office of Alishan National Scenic Area and Tsou People of Alishan. So, since September, there were series of wonderful Tsou Ceremonies each month to welcome the tourists at home and abroad to feel the human kindness of the tribe and the beauty of the traditional cultures as well as experience the most touching tribal tour of Alishan.
