The Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) held the closing ceremony of the 2025 Global Youth Forum on July 27 at the TH Hotel in Pingtung. The event was hosted by Deputy Minister Adralriw Abaliusu, who presented certificates to 38 young participants representing five Taiwanese indigenous groups and twelve countries. Appreciation awards were also presented to four mentors, along with recognition for outstanding performance in the Model United Nations event. Representatives from Taiwan’s diplomatic allies and partner countries were in attendance, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere.
In his remarks, Deputy Minister Adralriw Abaliusu stated that the CIP will continue implementing President Lai Ching-te’s policy goals of cultivating internationally minded youth with cross-cultural perspectives. He further emphasized that the forum not only focused on knowledge-sharing but also on putting learning into practice for the benefit of local communities. Some participants will return to Pingtung in August to collaborate with the Taiwu Community Development Association and Taiwu Elementary School in a community service camp, embodying the principle of “learning and giving back” and strengthening cultural identity and civic engagement.
The six-day, five-night forum offered participants a diverse range of courses and field visits, providing immersive experiences in Taiwanese indigenous lifestyles, music, and dance culture. Participants also engaged in four themed workshops: Climate Action and Community Sustainability, Digital Innovation and Cultural Preservation, Tourism and Economic Development, and International Exchange and Cultural Arts, fostering innovative thinking and deep cross-cultural understanding.
The CIP emphasized that young people are the driving force of the future, and the voices of indigenous peoples are an essential component of global multiculturalism. The CIP will continue collaborating with international partners to empower the youth and promote the sustainable development of indigenous communities regionally and globally.
