The outer circulation of Typhoon Wipha caused significant damage in Taitung County. On July 25, Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur visited the severely affected townships of Daren, Dawu, and Jinfeng to inspect post-disaster recovery and reconstruction efforts, and to understand local employment and industry needs. Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur expressed hope that central and local authorities will work together to accelerate the completion of all reconstruction projects.

After receiving briefings at the township offices, Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur noted that the heavy rainfall caused by the typhoon’s outer circulation greatly affected tribal transportation, safety, and daily life. The CIP has offered assistive measures, including post-disaster reconstruction of public facilities, disaster relief, temporary employment, housing repair and reconstruction, and financing support, to aid tribal recovery efforts.

Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur further stated that in addition to the immediate mobilization of manpower and resources by township offices for emergency response and clearing operations, the CIP will take a “report and review immediately” approach to accelerate the approval of public facility reconstruction projects. Relevant agencies will be invited to provide the county government with maximum support, and time-sensitive projects can be prioritized to ensure both implementation and funding progress.

Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur emphasized that the recovery and reconstruction of indigenous communities is the CIP’s top priority. He also expressed gratitude to the Taitung County Government and the Daren, Dawu, and Jinfeng township office teams for their effort in helping tribal residents restore normal daily life.
