Minister Ljaucu Zingrur of the Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) attended the 2025 Wuta Village Joint School Athletic Meet and the opening ceremony of the Atayal Traditional Archery Range and Semi-Outdoor Sports Court today (May 17). Minister Ljaucu Zingrur emphasized that schools in indigenous communities serve as cultural bases, carrying the mission of preserving local traditions while providing children with safe, high-quality sporting and learning environments. He noted that this is also a core value underlying the CIP’s indigenous education policies.

At the unveiling ceremony held at Wuta Elementary School, the Minister stated that the archery range and sports court not only improve the quality of physical education during rainy weather, but also constitute an important venue for promoting traditional Atayal archery education. Witnessing tribal elders lead students in a blessing ceremony that deeply moved the Minister. He remarked that the spirit of communities and schools working together to safeguard cultural heritage represents the best embodiment of “learning together and prospering together.”

The event also recognized outstanding teachers, staff members, and high-achieving students, including Wei Yi-an, who received the highest distinction in the National Language Competition. Minister Ljaucu Zingrur reiterated that the CIP will always be the strongest supporter of indigenous students. Beginning in 2025, the CIP launched the Indigenous Elite Athlete Advancement Program and the Indigenous Potential Elite Athlete Development Program to cultivate athletic talent among indigenous young people. He also commended the students of Wuta for their repeated success in dance and folk song competitions, highlighting the remarkable achievements of indigenous youth in both cultural and athletic fields. In closing, he expressed gratitude to the volunteers and donors who support education in remote areas and encouraged Wuta Elementary School to continue serving as a key center for Atayal cultural transmission and talent development.
