The Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) hosted the 2026 LiMA Indigenous Arts and Lifestyle Festival from May 1 to 3 at Xinzhongshan Linear Park. Through cultural and creative crafts, musical performances, and specialty foods, the event showcased the rich cultural heritage and distinctive industries of indigenous peoples so visitors could experience indigenous culture up close in an urban setting.

The CIP stated that this year's festival centered on Atayal culture. From the entrance design and stage performances to hands-on workshops and market spaces, every aspect incorporated the core concept of artistry, themed spaces for artistic displays, performances, craft experiences, and cultural markets that fully reflected the aesthetics of indigenous life. The market was organized into three themed areas: Cultural and Creative Crafts, Specialty Foods, and Indigenous Brewing Flavors. The exhibits and products represented a wide range of indigenous peoples, including the Atayal, Amis, Truku, and Bunun. The specialty foods area featured products flavored with maqaw, including maqaw coffee and sausages, inviting visitors to experience the distinctive taste of this ingredient, often referred to as the “black pearl of the mountains.” In addition, many vendors highlighted the use of natural materials and handmade production methods, reflecting indigenous knowledge of living in harmony with nature while also aligning with the contemporary principles of sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Deputy Minister Chen Yi-Hsin stated in his remarks that the CIP will continue to organize activities in high-footfall public spaces, bringing together resources and strengths from various sectors to help more people gain a deeper understanding of indigenous cultures and further promote indigenous products and cultural values.
