Today (on the 8th), legislators Guo Guo-wen, Lin Jun-xian, Lin Yi-jin, Lai Hui-yuan, and representatives from the Siraya group held a press conference at the Legislative Yuan, urging the government to expedite the legal process for promoting the identity of the Plains Indigenous. Adralriw Abaliusu (Du Zhang Mei-zhuang), the Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Indigenous Peoples, attended the press conference and stated that he would adhere to the intent of the Constitutional Court's Judgment Xian-Pan 17 of 2022, proactively advancing relevant legal work and thoughtfully considering the perspectives of the Plains Indigenous.

The Council of Indigenous Peoples noted that the draft proposed in line with the Constitutional Court's judgment has been reviewed by various agencies in the Executive Yuan. Once the Executive Yuan completes its review and refers the draft to the Legislative Yuan, the Council will actively engage with all political parties to urge the legislation's completion before the deadline set in the Constitutional Court judgment, aiming to restore the rights and interests of the Plains Indigenous as swiftly as possible.

The Council of Indigenous Peoples further explained that it respects the appeals made by the legislators and the Siraya group during the press conference. It hopes that when the bill is presented to the Legislative Yuan, it will receive support from legislators as well. The government will align with the intent of the Constitutional judgment, while also taking into account the historical context and current needs of the Plains Indigenous. After considering the allocation of national resources, the Council can establish a comprehensive mechanism to safeguard the rights of the Plains Indigenous, thereby genuinely addressing the long-term expectations of the tribal members and accomplishing the legalization process as quickly as possible.
