Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur visited Guangfu Township in Hualien County, today (October 18) to inspect churches and tribes affected by the overflow of the Matai'an Creek barrier lake. The minister visited the Church of the Conversion of St. Paul, the Seventh-day Adventist Guangfu Church, and the Atomo Tribe to assess the extent of structural damage, express care for pastors, congregants, and residents, and listen to their needs and concerns in the recovery process.

Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur emphasized that churches play a vital role as spiritual anchors in indigenous communities. Post-disaster reconstruction, he noted, is not merely about rebuilding structures but also about restoring faith and resilience. The CIP will develop targeted repair and assistance measures to help restore churches as centers of prayer and unity—spaces where faith can once again become a source of strength for community recovery.

The minister also visited the Atomo Tribe to meet the village chief and residents, listening to their specific infrastructure, living supplies, and employment needs. He directed relevant agencies to draft and implement follow-up support measures.

The CIP stated that it will continue working closely with local governments, religious organizations, and civic groups to strengthen disaster relief and reconstruction efforts, accompanying indigenous residents through the recovery process and rebuilding safe, hopeful, and resilient communities together.
