Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur visited Guangfu Township, Hualien County, today (October 4) to meet with indigenous residents affected by the landslide lake disaster and express the government's concern and support. He also extended appreciation to the frontline personnel who have been working tirelessly on rescue, relief, and resettlement efforts.

Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur noted that immediately after the disaster, the CIP, in line with Executive Yuan directives, deployed Deputy Minister Qucung Qalavangan and staff to the Forward Coordination Office of the Central Emergency Operations Center to coordinate post-disaster recovery efforts. The team worked to promptly assess and respond to the urgent needs of affected indigenous families, ensuring timely care and support. The CIP also assisted evacuees during this time who were sheltered at Guangfu Elementary School and Tafalong Church (Tafalong a kiwkay) to help improve living conditions, provide home visits from social workers, deliver meals to elderly residents from Cultural Health Stations, and offer comfort and condolences to families of the deceased. The CIP also set up an on-site service desk to process temporary employment applications, promote welfare and relief measures, stabilize household income, and assess damage to indigenous homes to facilitate subsequent repair and reconstruction.

Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur further stated that starting from October 7, the CIP will join the Executive Yuan's "One-Stop Service Platform" at Chunghwa Telecom Service Center in Guangfu Township, Hualien County, to provide guidance, consultation, and assistance with disaster relief applications. The CIP has also established Tribal Care Service Teams to remain stationed in affected communities, ensuring direct communication with residents and relaying their needs and suggestions to the Forward Coordination Office for joint resolution by relevant ministries and agencies.

Finally, Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur emphasized that the CIP has mobilized social workers from Indigenous Family Service Centers, caregivers from Cultural Health Stations, and employment service officers across Taiwan to assist in disaster recovery. Through coordinated inter-ministerial resources and concrete action, the CIP will continue accompanying indigenous communities through recovery, helping restore homes and enabling residents to return to normal life as soon as possible.
