Organized by the Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP), the Taiwan PASIWALI Festival celebrates its 8th edition this year, taking place on December 13–14 at Taitung Forest Park. Since its first event in 2018, PASIWALI has become an important platform for Taiwan’s Indigenous music culture, breaking down geographic barriers, encouraging international exchange, and earning broad support and recognition.
This year’s festival features an expanded lineup of Indigenous performers from around the world. With at least 16 artists and groups spanning different generations, the program includes traditional, contemporary, classic, and pop genres, highlighting the diversity and vibrancy of Indigenous music across ages. The festival grounds will also host five immersive “tribal houses,” along with 65 Indigenous food and craft vendors, providing cultural experiences while supporting local economic growth.
The festival also introduces its first-ever Theme Song Competition, with Gold, Silver, and Special Jury Prizes. The winning compositions will serve as musical ambassadors for the upcoming PASIWALI 2025, bringing creativity and excitement to the event.
The CIP hopes PASIWALI will continue to be a prominent international platform for Indigenous singers, bands, and dance groups, increasing global visibility and influence for Taiwan’s Indigenous music. Everyone is warmly invited to join the celebration at Taitung Forest Park on December 13–14 to experience the power of Indigenous music, dance, and cultural cuisine.
