The Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) has officially approved the list of grant recipients for the 2025 Indigenous Music Industry Promotion Subsidy Program aimed at music production and marketing. A total of 26 proposals were selected through the review process, with a combined subsidy amount of NT$28.5 million. Notably, 21 of the approved works feature over 50% of lyrics in indigenous languages.

Now in its 14th year, the CIP’s subsidy program for indigenous music production continues to support the creation of outstanding musical works by indigenous artists. In February 2024, the Council revised parts of the Directions for the Indigenous Music Industry Promotion Subsidy, allowing projects that feature over 50% indigenous language content to receive up to 25% more funding. This policy enhancement has resulted in a noticeable increase in applications featuring songs composed in indigenous languages. Indigenous artists are using their musical talents to preserve and transmit their native languages and cultures, expressing diverse musical styles and advancing a strong cultural mission. Their creative energy vividly showcases the richness of Taiwan’s multicultural landscape.

Alongside ongoing financial support, the CIP encourages universities and colleges to participate in industry-academia collaborations to nurture talent for the music industry. Additionally, the Council hosts the annual Taiwan PASIWALI Festival, providing performance opportunities for indigenous singers and bands, while facilitating exchanges with indigenous musicians from around the world.

Looking ahead, the music production subsidy program in 2026 will start accepting applications in October 2025. Those interested in creating indigenous music are encouraged to prepare in advance and submit their proposals.
