In alignment with the Executive Yuan's policy initiative "Digital Nation, Smart Island," the Council of Indigenous Peoples has introduced a new measure for administrative simplification and convenience. Starting today, indigenous people applying for projects and subsidies from the Council no longer need to submit household registration transcripts or certificates to prove their indigenous identity, providing a more convenient service for the indigenous community.

The Council of Indigenous Peoples noted that over the past 27 years since its establishment, indigenous people have often been required to submit documents, such as household registration transcripts, to prove their indigenous identity when applying for government-related services. However, the Council has is now utilizing the household registration information system for verification, eliminating the need for indigenous people to travel to offices to apply for documents, not only saving costs on household registration transcript fees, but also reducing transportation costs.

The Council of Indigenous Peoples specified that this new measure applies to 15 different project categories, including incentives for specialist talent, scholarships for economically disadvantaged students in elementary and junior high schools, scholarships for college and university students, indigenous language certification reissuance, emergency assistance, subsidies for elders to get dentures, professional social work incentives, subsidies covering everyday material costs of institutionalized people with disabilities, and the Inspiring Women Entrepreneurs Program, among others. In the future, the Council plans to expand the scope of implementation and continue coordinating with relevant government agencies to gradually achieve the goal of fully exempting indigenous people from submitting household registration documents when applying for government services.
