Yesterday (October 19) the Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur was invited to attend the annual Pacific Austronesian Joint Harvest Festival organized by the Hualien County Government, where he expressed strong support for cultural exchange and development among Pacific Austronesian nations.

During the event, Minister Zingrur highlighted Taiwan’s recent participation from June 5 to June 16 in a cultural exchange in Hawaii as an guest of honor, alongside delegations from 27 Pacific countries. This gathering allowed each nation to showcase its unique music and dance, providing a valuable opportunity for genuine cultural understanding and mutual appreciation, an experience that deeply moved him.

Minister Zingrur expressed his particular gratitude to the Hualien County Government for organizing this Joint Harvest Festival, offering Taiwan another opportunity to celebrate the diversity of Austronesian culture. For indigenous peoples across the Pacific, the Harvest Festival is not only a traditional ceremony to thank nature for a bountiful harvest but also a vital moment to display and pass down cultural heritage.

The three-day Joint Harvest Festival brought together friends from diverse locations, sharing the essence of their cultures through music, dance, and food. The CIP remains committed to promoting the preservation and development of indigenous culture. Minister Zingrur believes that such cultural exchange events will foster greater understanding, strengthen cooperation, and advance the ongoing preservation and growth of indigenous cultural heritage.
