The Pingtung County Government grandly hosted the 2025 Pingtung Festival of Lights from January 11 to February 16, 2025. In full support of promoting indigenous economic industries, the Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) aims to foster close collaboration between central and local governments, integrating resources to maximize policy benefits.

CIP Minister Ljaucu·Zingrur highlighted that Pingtung is a city where diverse ethnic groups harmoniously coexist, blessed with abundant mountain and ocean resources. In recent years, the songs, dances, and artistry of Pingtung's indigenous communities have transcended the mountains and gained international recognition. This deeply moving cultural essence originates from Pingtung's indigenous heritage.

The CIP further explained that the Pingtung Festival of Lights features a variety of light displays, reflecting the county's rich multicultural identity. This year's lantern installations were designed to highlight local indigenous characteristics, incorporating storytelling elements from indigenous homelands. The festival's core theme revolves around the zodiac sign of the Snake, with indigenous artists invited to create lantern displays inspired by indigenous cultural motifs. These designs aim to emphasize the diversity and significance of indigenous cultural values.

Through collaboration with government agencies, indigenous cultural arts, and tourism industries, the CIP seeks to provide a platform for indigenous artists to showcase their talent. By integrating lantern displays with tourism initiatives, the festival will further enhance Pingtung's unique tourism potential. The CIP warmly invites the public to visit Pingtung during the winter season, immerse themselves in indigenous culture, and explore local tribal tourism experiences, contributing to the growth of indigenous industries.
