In recent years, in order to promote the tribal tourism brand of “uhtan’e ho mimimiyo”, the Council of Indigenous Peoples had actively participated in domestic and foreign tourism exhibitions and held various tribal tourism activities, all of which had received a lot of responses and achieved great achievements. This year (2019), the Council participated in the Tourism Expo Japan, the largest and indicator tourism exhibition in Asia, for the first time, to communicate with international buyers, Japanese businessmen and the public, and promote the charm of Taiwan’s indigenous tribal tourism. The Tourism Expo would be held at Hall 4, Intex Osaka from October 24th (Thursday) to October 27th (Sunday). Before the exhibition, the local businessmen in Nagoya and Osaka would hold business talks with them on October 21st and 23rd, respectively. They would recommend the rich and diverse in-depth tribal experience itinerary of Taiwan’s Indigenous Peoples, invite overseas tourists to come to Taiwan and go to their hometown for in-depth travel.

Japanese tourists were one of the most important inbound tourist groups in Taiwan. According to the survey of Japanese website, Taiwan was ranked in the top 3 of “The Best Overseas Tourist Destination”, which showed that Taiwan had a high attraction for Japanese tourists. By participating in the Tourism Expo, we would share the unique tribal characteristics and itinerary of Taiwan, and attract tourists to experience the charm of their hometown. For the first time, the Expo moved to Osaka. It was expected that more than 100 countries and 1000 organizations would participate in the Expo.

This time, the Council gathered 16 classic tribal tourism routes in the North, Center, South and East into a volume, presenting a complete diversity of tribes in different regions. Tourists could experience from the seaside to the mountains, from tribal crafts, food feasts to traditional cultural spirit, so that tourists and buyers could choose various indigenous-oriented tours according to the guidelines. Tourists could enjoy the magnificent scenery and experience the indigenous ecological tour in the “Smangus Tribe”, “Gluban Tribe” and “Walo’ Tribe”; go to “Chayama Tribe”, “K’yang Tribe” and “Sazasa Tribe” to experience the hunting culture of various ethnic groups in the mountains and forests, and express their respect for the heaven and the earth; or start a gourmet tour, and explore the food culture of fishing, hunting in “Chimei Tribe” and “Dulik Tribe” of the “Amis Settlement”, so as to create the most profound memories of Taiwan’s indigenous tourism.

Through the promotion of overseas exhibitions, it was expected to promote the beautiful culture and unique experience of Taiwan’s Indigenous Peoples to overseas. In addition to enhancing the exposure of tribal tourism, it was also expected to increase overseas people’ understanding of “uhtan’e ho mimimiyo” and make indigenous tribal tourism the first choice for all to visit Taiwan!
